Terms of Use
Last updated: October 2026.
A Friend in Media is an AI-assisted coaching tool that helps you shape a story and write media pitches. It is not a PR agency, it does not send anything for you, and it cannot promise coverage. These terms are between you and Becky Coles Media, referred to as "we".
Your account. You need an account to save stories and use the coach. You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for what happens under your account. Give us accurate information. You can delete your account at any time from the Account page, and that permanently removes your stories and saved work.
What you are buying. Access is sold in two ways, both as a one-time payment with no subscription and no automatic renewal.
- One Story Pass (CA$27). One pass covers one complete story and pitch, with revisions. A pass attaches to a story the first time the coach works on it. You can correct details and revise as much as you need, but a different story needs its own pass. If the story is changed into a clearly different one, the coach will stop and ask you to use a new pass.
- Founding Member (CA$197). Access to the coach for as many stories as you bring, for as long as A Friend in Media is offered. If we ever retire the tool, we will give at least 90 days notice by email. Founding Member does not include future separate products or services.
- Upgrade (CA$170). If you have bought a One Story Pass, you can upgrade once to Founding Member and your CA$27 is credited. The upgrade credit is available once per account.
Prices are in Canadian dollars. Sales tax, including HST where it applies, is calculated and shown at checkout based on your location. Payments are processed by Stripe, which acts as the merchant of record for these purchases and handles tax collection, receipts and payment disputes. We do not see or store your card number.
AI-generated content is a draft. The coach writes pitches, questions and one-pagers using what you tell it. It can be wrong or miss context. You are the editor. Check every name, date and claim before you send anything, and get approval from anyone named in your pitch. We do not guarantee that a journalist will reply, that anything will be published, or any business result.
Your content. You keep ownership of the stories and details you enter and of what you create with the tool. You give us permission to store and process them in order to run the service. Do not enter anything you do not have the right to use, and do not enter sensitive personal information about other people.
Acceptable use. Do not use the tool to produce false, defamatory, harassing or misleading material, to impersonate someone, or to break the law. Your purchase is personal to you. Do not share your login or let other people use your account, and do not resell or give away access. Do not try to get around usage limits, or attack or overload the service. Usage limits apply to every plan to keep the service stable and affordable. We may pause or close an account that abuses them or that is being shared. If we do, we will email you at the address on the account and explain why. An account closed for abuse or sharing is not eligible for a refund.
Availability. We aim to keep the tool running, but it may be down for maintenance or because of outages with the services it relies on. We may change features over time.
Our liability. The tool is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for lost opportunities, lost income or indirect damages, and our total responsibility to you is limited to what you paid us for the tool. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer protection law that cannot be waived.
Governing law. Ontario, Canada, and the laws of Canada that apply there.
Changes. If we change these terms in a meaningful way, we will tell account holders by email and update the date above.
